Install a charging station at home

You can order your Plug Inn bidirectional powerboxr through the Alpine Store at the same time as your new Alpine electric vehicle. All you need to do is order your home charger through your Alpine Store, and your installation journey starts.

Once you have ordered your home charger, you will be automatically emailed a digital survey that will help us assess if you have a standard installation* or if your distribution network operator will require some additional works. Once the assessment has been completed and DNO approved, our installation company will contact you to book in your installation at a time convenient to you. The typical installation takes 4-6 weeks to complete.**

*The cost does not cover any additional works that may be required by your regional energy supplier. During the installation journey, the customer is notified of additional works required and will liaise with the energy supplier direct.

The A290 and A390 come standard with a Mode 3 Type 2 cable that allows you to connect to your home charging station or any public AC charging point.

Equip yourself with a Mode 2 "Flexicharger" cable for occasional charging or when no dedicated charging solution is available for your electric Alpine, using a reinforced Green’Up socket (3.7 kW). With this setup, you can recover about 200 km of range overnight.

All versions come standard with DC fast charging (maximum peak power of 100 kW for the A290 and 150 or 190 kW for the A390 depending on the version), compatible with high-power charging stations on motorways and in certain shopping centers. No additional cable is required for this mode — the cables are attached to the charging stations, just like a fuel pump.

Use a Mode 2 “Flexicharger” cable to connect your electric Alpine to a standard 2.3 kW domestic socket. This charging mode should be used only occasionally or when no dedicated charging solution is available. With this setup, you can recover about 130 km of range overnight. For faster and safer charging, install a 7 kW (single-phase) or 22 kW (three-phase) home wallbox! With its partners, Alpine offers a turnkey home charging solution — no installation worries.

Charge your 100% electric Alpine:

• At home: plug it into a standard or reinforced domestic socket, or into your wallbox. Our partners can assist you with your home charging installation project — you can order this when purchasing your new Alpine from the dealership.
• On the road: take advantage of numerous public charging stations. Short on time? Use DC fast chargers. Use the trip planner to locate nearby stations and the Plug Inn Charge Pass to easily pay at most public chargers.

The charging time varies depending on the configuration chosen. Standard charging: at home or at a public charging station, the A290 on standard charge recovers up to 70km of range in 1 hour, allowing you to fully recharge overnight (7 to 10 hours depending on the battery), and the A390 on standard charge recovers from 20% to 80% in 8 hours with a 7.4kW (32A) charge and 5 hours 20 minutes with an 11kW (32A three-phase). For the A390 with optional 22kW charger, charging at a public charging station from 20% to 80% takes 2 hours 40 minutes.
This charging mode is also compatible with all public charging stations, including DC fast charging stations (particularly on highways), to recover up to 150 km WLTP in 15 minutes with a peak power of 100kW for the A290 and up to 2 hours of highway driving in 23 minutes of DC charge with a peak power 150kW for the A390 GT (20 minutes of DC charge with peak power 190kW for the A390 GTS, subject to change before final homologation).

For the A290, DC100kW fast charging is possible on the road, allowing you to recover up to 150km WLTP range in 15 minutes. For the A390 GT, it is DC 150 kW fast charging and the ability to charge from 15% to 80% in 29 minutes, for the A390 GTS with 190 kW in less than 25 minutes (subject to change before final homologation).

For optimal use of fast charging, charge only when battery level is below 20%, and on long trips, stop charging around 80–85% to balance driving and charging time.

The cost of charging will vary depending on the operator. Billing may be done in different ways: per kW, per time spent or per charging speed (at fast charging stations). Plug Inn charge pass offers a subscription to reduce the price per kWh at Ionity. To optimize your charging when travelling, the Google Maps route planner built into your Alpine-Portal offers you the best route configuration: it takes into account the battery and its range based on the vehicle's charge, road conditions, and the identification and availability of charging stations (types of stations and associated rates).

The route planner allows you to condition the battery (by automatically heating or cooling it before stopping) to make fast charging as efficient as possible (available as standard).
